CO2 reduction of up to 25% for Newasco van Houten in Heemstede

Newasco van Houten in Heemstede is a big player in the field of textile services, offering services such as personal laundry. The company welcomes their clients in a large, tight-knit family with a long and rich history. They’ve been in the laundry industry for over a century. Many will still remember Newasco van Houten from their original location on the Bleekersvaart.

Current situation

Newasco is committedly working towards a future-proof sustainable organisation, saving as much energy as possible and reducing their CO2 emissions.

Sustainable entrepreneurship

Respect for both the young and the old is of utmost importance at Newasco’s team. Having been in the industry as long as they have, they understand the importance of constantly innovating with the future in mind. There’s lots of potential in the field of industrial laundry for saving energy and, by extension, automatically reducing CO2 emissions. This laundry facility is ready to take steps towards a green future for our planet.

Activities

In order to comply with current and future regulations on reducing CO2 emissions, Newasco approached Jaap Reinders of TBR Solutions in 2020 to assess their potential for saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions.

Sustainable engineering

TBR Solutions BV is an engineering firm that has been around in the laundry industry for over 42 years. TBR Solutions works for their clients with passion and conviction, with the goal of creating a better and more sustainable world. The company is known as an international actor, largely working with businesses in the wet cleaning industry to save energy and reduce CO2 emissions.

What is AIR2AIR Technology?

TBR Solutions has already fitted two dryers with AIR2AIR technology. AIR2AIR is a unique drying solution for industrial laundries. Outgoing air from the exhaust is filtered and residual energy is subsequently reclaimed from the now-filtered air. This energy can then be used to preheat the dryer’s incoming airflow. The tangible and latent heat from the exhaust is thus reused in order to save energy. This installation is designed for quick plug-and-play installation. The system can be connected efficiently, even to existing dryers. For the last five months we’ve tested and measured this particular installation with the help of Christeyns, showing us that Newasco’s CO2 reduction amounts to 20-25% when compared with dryers without AIR2AIR technology. The reduction has proven so favourable that the decision has been made to equip the entire drying department with this technology.
