Save energy and protect the environment from overheated waste water and chemicals
Wemmers Cleaning drastically reduces CO2 emissions!
Wemmers Tank Transport
Wemmers Tank Transport transports foodstuffs throughout Europe. The tank trailers used by the transport company require very specific and high quality safety requirements. Wemmers Tanktransport also strives to protect the environment as much as possible.
Wemmers: a recognized tank cleaning company
After transport, the tankers must be cleaned internally and exactly according to the customer’s requirements. This is done by means of steam, hot rinse water and chemicals. Different customer requirements require different cleaning programs. In order to continue to guarantee these quality requirements, Wemmers has invested in a state-of-the-art cleaning station. All cleaning equipment meets the highest quality requirements set by the ATCN and the SQAS. This makes Wemmers a recognized tank cleaning company for the food industry. In addition to taking good care of its customers, Wemmers also wants to become more sustainable and thus take care of the environment!
Customer’s request
Wemmers wants to protect the environment against overheated water and chemicals and also wants to save energy.
Current situation
After the customer’s request, an inspection took place. The current situation has been inventoried by the engineers of TBR Solutions. The waste water is collected and treated, separating the fat from the water, then stored in a 60m3 tank. From this tank the waste water is moved along the purification process.
Activities
The following solution has been devised via TBR: Cooling the water by exchanging the energy with the incoming cold water. In addition, the heat that is extracted from the waste water at night is reused to have 15m3 of preheated water ready the next day.
Result
By cooling the waste water and heating the fresh water, approximately 30% of energy is saved. The direct gas saving ensures that the installation that has been installed pays for itself. The cooled waste water stream improves the operation of the purification process, further reducing the use of additional chemicals. The CO2 emissions are also reduced by approximately 150 tons per year due to the optimization!
Heat exchanger
By using an EMS Rotor (energy money saver) waste water heat exchanger, high waste water temperatures are a thing of the past. The EMS Rotor is a waste water heat exchanger that is able to cool hot waste water and reuse this heat for heating process water. The rotating heat exchanger is self-cleaning, which reduces maintenance. The self-cleaning character of the heat exchanger ensures that the EMS Rotor can be placed in heavily polluted waste water streams.
In addition to the engineering and project management offered, TBR Solutions has delivered the following:
- EMSROTOR – Waste heat exchanger
- CWWT – Central Control Unit with visualization of the process
- FWB – Water buffer with internals
- FWD – Water Distribution Kit
- REMOTE SUPPORT – Remote assistance
Technical details
Recovered energy is transferred to the incoming fresh water via the EMS heat exchanger. Via the intelligent FWB Buffer (ECO Tank) and FWD water distribution set (Duplex Pump Set), the preheated water is supplied to the cleaning process under constant properties. This application significantly improves the operation of the water purification system. Fats are captured better, which reduces the use of chemicals.
Lost energy is recovered, which greatly reduces gas consumption. At night extra energy is exchanged. Thanks to this extra night cooling, 15.000 litres of preheated water is ready for the cleaning process the next day.
With TBR Remote Support we offer remote support, optimization and guidance. This way, TBR ensures an optimal supply of water and energy in the cleaning process.
